I have decided that I want to incorporate a dance into my music video.
I choreographed a full length dance to the song Figure 8 that I will teach Millie. I will arrange to book my school theatre for three hours and set up four stationary cameras and one handheld camera for me to follow Millie for close up and action shots.

My Actress
As Ellie Goulding is a female singer, I have to use a female actress for my music video. I did not want to perform in my own music video as i would by recording the scenes and thought that having someone else doing it would be much easier.
I decided to go with someone I knew very well and someone who would be perfect for the character that I wanted to portray in my music video. Camilla Rose Evelegh is a performer and is seventeen years of age. She has done Lamda where she trains to do acting, and alongside of this she presents shows. Her favourite passion is dancing, of which her favourite is contemporary. I chose my friend Millie, because she too loves the artist and knows the song Figure 8 very well. This gave me an advantage as it meant that it would take less time filming as there would be less mistakes.

Millie attends the same school as me (Aldenham)
and we also both go to the Royal Academy Of Dance which meant I had lots of time to do filming.

I am writing to ask for your permission to use your song, and would really appreciate it if you let me.
Many thanks,
Ceyda Ayten Tabak

Figure 8- Ellie Goulding
I have chosen "Figure 8" by Ellie Goulding as my song choice for my music video. The reason I feel this is the best song choice for me is because it has deep, emotional and meaningful lyrics, where I feel I can pull a music video together.
This song is full of atmospheric beats, a soulful voice, words that tell a story and a powerful instrumental section. The music video seems to be more serious, whereas her others tend to be more lighthearted and performance based instead of narrative. Moreover I think that her Figure 8 music video is more abstract than her other works.

How I Chose My Song
I already had in mind what artist I was going to choose for my music video, and that is Ellie Goulding. She is my idol and feel like her music fits with the style I wanted to go for.
Ellie Goulding is full of confidence, and has great musicality, has an amazing voice and writes inspirational and meaningful songs and is very unique.
It took me a long time to listen to all of her albums, seeing as she has so many wonderful songs.

After much thought, I narrowed my song choices down and watched all the music videos to them. Most of her music videos were beyond anything I could produce, except for one that stood out from the others. This is how I knew that this song was perfect for my music video.

Music Videos That Have Inspired Me
This song is very meaningful, powerful and soulful and the music video reflects this, Rihanna is stripped back to show her vulnerability. This video speaks many words.
I was inspired by how the emotion from the lyrics of the song have been reflected into the video.
This music video is both meaningful and dramatic at the same time and helps Eminem to put his points across. Throughout this music video, it is full of deep emotion and tells a story. The way the story is told is interesting seeing as there are flashbacks of previous times, and this builds up great emotion throughout.

Vevo
Vevo (stylized vevo) is a video hosting service owned and operated by a joint venture of Universal Music Group, Google, Sony Music Entertainment and Abu Dhabi Media. It launched on December 8, 2009. The videos on Vevo are syndicated across the web, with Google and Vevo sharing the advertising revenue.
Vevo offers music videos from two of the "big three" major record labels, UMG and SME. EMI also licensed its library for Vevo shortly before launch; it was subsequently acquired by UMG in 2012. Warner Music Group was initially reported to be considering hosting its content on the service, but formed a rival alliance with MTV Networks.
The concept for Vevo was described as being a Hulu for music videos, with the goal being to attract more high-end advertisers. The site's other revenue sources include a merchandise store and referral links to purchase viewed songs on Amazon MP3 and iTunes. UMG acquired the domain name vevo.com on 20 November 2008. SME reached a deal to add its content to the site in June 2009. The site went live on December 8, 2009, and that same month became the number one most visited music site in the US, overtaking MySpace Music.
In June 2012, Vevo launched its Certified awards, which honors artists with at least 100 million views on Vevo and its partners (including YouTube) through special features on the Vevo website.

YouTube
YouTube is a video-sharing website, created by three former PayPal employees in February 2005 and owned by Google since late 2006, on which users can upload, view and share videos. The company is based in San Bruno, California, and uses Adobe Flash Video and HTML5 technology to display a wide variety of user-generated and corporate media video content, including video clips, TV clips, and music videos, and amateur content such as video blogging, short original videos, and educational videos.
Most of the content on YouTube has been uploaded by individuals, but media corporations including CBS, the BBC, Vevo, Hulu, and other organisations offer some of their material via YouTube, as part of the YouTube partnership program. Unregistered users can watch videos, and registered users can upload an unlimited number of videos. Videos considered to contain potentially offensive content are available only to registered users affirming themselves to be at least 18 years old. YouTube, LLC was bought by Google for US$1.65 billion in November 2006 and now operates as a Google subsidiary.

Kerrang!
Kerrang! is a UK-based magazine devoted to rock music published by Bauer Media Group. It was first published on 6 June 1981 as a one-off supplement in the Sounds newspaper. Named after the onomatopoeic word that derives from the sound made when playing a power chord on a distorted electric guitar, Kerrang! was initially devoted to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and the rise of hard rock acts. In the early 2000s it became the best-selling British music newspaper.
Kerrang! commenced publication on 6 June 1981 and was edited by Geoff Barton, initially as a one-time supplement in the Sounds newspaper, which focused on the New Wave of British Heavy Metal phenomenon and on the rise of other hard rock acts. Angus Young of AC/DC appeared on Kerrang!'s first cover. Launched as a monthly magazine, Kerrang! began to appear on a fortnightly basis later, and in 1987 it went weekly. The original owner was United Newspapers who then sold it to EMAP in 1991.
During the 1980s and early 1990s the magazine placed many thrash and glam metal acts on the cover (like Mötley Crüe, Slayer, Bon Jovi, Metallica, Poison, and Venom) but later discarded them when grunge acts such as Nirvana rose to fame. Readers often criticise the magazine for repeating this process every time a new musical trend becomes popular.
Kerrang!'s popularity rose again with the hiring of editor Paul Rees circa 2000 when the nu metal genre, featuring bands like Limp Bizkit and Slipknot were becoming more popular. Rees went on to edit Q magazine and Ashley Bird took over as editor from 2003 to 2005. However the magazine's sales went quickly into decline in 2003 and Paul Brannigan took over as editor in May 2005.

MTV
MTV (originally an initialism of Music Television) is an American basic cable and satellite television channel owned by the MTV Networks Music & Logo Group, a unit of the Viacom Media Networks division of Viacom. The channel is headquartered in New York City, New York. Launched on August 1, 1981,the original purpose of the channel was to play music videos guided by television personalities known as "video jockeys," or VJs. In its early years, MTV's main target demographic were young adults, but today, MTV's programming is primarily targeted at adolescents and teenagers in addition to young adults.
MTV has spawned numerous sister channels in the U.S. and affiliated channels internationally, some of which have gone independent. MTV's influence on its audience, including issues related to censorship and social activism, has been a subject of debate for years.
Several concepts for music video television programming had been around since the early 1960s.
The Beatles had used music videos to promote their records starting in the mid-1960s. The creative use of music videos within their 1964 debut film A Hard Day's Night, particularly the performance of "Can't Buy Me Love", led MTV decades later to honour the film's director, Richard Lester, with an award for "basically inventing" the music video.
In his book The Mason Williams FCC Rapport, author Mason Williams states that he pitched an idea to CBS for a television program that featured "video-radio," where disc jockeys would play avant-garde art pieces set to music on the air. CBS cancelled the idea, but Williams premiered his own musical composition, "Classical Gas", on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, where he was head writer.
In 1970, Philadelphia-based disk jockey Bob Whitney created The Now Explosion, a television series filmed in Atlanta and broadcast in syndication to other local television stations throughout the United States. The series, which featured promotional clips from various popular artists, was canceled by its distributor in 1971.
Several music programs originating outside of the United States, including Australia's Countdown and the United Kingdom's Top of the Pops, which had initially aired music videos in lieu of performances from artists who were not available to perform live, began to feature them regularly by the mid-1970s.
In 1974, Gary Van Haas, Vice President of Televak Corporation introduced a concept to distribute a music video channel to record stores across the United States, and promoted the channel, Music Video TV, to distributors and retailers in a May 1974 issue of Billboard. The channel, which featured video disc jockeys, signed a deal with US Cable in 1978 to expand its audience from retail to cable television. The service was no longer active by the time MTV launched in 1981.

VH1
VH1 (stylised as VH+1 and VH-1 and originally an initialism of Video Hits One ) is an American cable television network based in New York City. Launched on January 1, 1985, in the old space of Turner Broadcasting's short-lived Cable Music Channel. The original purpose of the channel was to build on the success of MTV by playing music videos, but targeting a slightly older demographic than its sister channel, focusing on the lighter, softer side of popular music. The channel was originally created by Warner-Amex Satellite Entertainment, at the time a division of Warner Communications and owner of MTV. Both VH1 and its sister channel MTV are part of the MTV Networks division of corporate parent Viacom Media Networks. While VH1 occasionally plays music videos and the Top 20 Video Countdown, its recent claim to fame has been in the area of music-related reality programming.
VH1's aim was to focus on the lighter, softer side of popular music, including such musicians as Olivia Newton-John, Kenny Rogers, Carly Simon, Tina Turner, Elton John, Billy Joel, Eric Clapton, Sting, Donna Summer, Rod Stewart, Kenny G, and Anita Baker, in hopes of appealing to people aged 18 to 35, and possibly older. Also frequently featured in the network's early years were "videos" for Motown and other 1960s oldies consisting of newsreel and concert footage. It was introduced on January 1, 1985 with the video performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" by Marvin Gaye.

Different Types of Music Videos: Country
Avicii's Hey Brother is a more modern style of country:
Whereas Dolly Parton's is more of a classic country video set on a artificially constructed countryside scene:
Taylor Swift take influences from this:
The scene is set up like a farm, with the main artist, Taylor Swift, standing in the middle, singing and playing a main country instrument. The instrumentation is all country, and the camera focuses on this quite a lot.
The costuming is light and natural colours, which represent innocence. Taylor Swift has a plait in her hair, which also represents young innocence.

Different Genres of Music Videos: R'n'B
R'n'B or rhythm and blues is a genre of popular African-American music that originated in the 1940's. The term was originally used by record companies to describe recordings marketed to urban African Americans at a time when "urbane, rocking, jazz based music with a heavy insistent beat" was becoming more popular.
This music video has the group uniquely dressed in, bright, eye-catching, colours. Their makeup and hair is also big, unique and bright. These girls are seen to have much "swag" and "style", which relates well to this R'n'B music video.
The back drop is graffitied art, and there is paint and water falling from this. The paint and water make everything more dramatic, and the dancers slide in it. The dancers moves are edited to slow motion when they are up in they air, which adds impact.
