Contemporary Dance

The dancing represents a contrasting list of emotions; freedom, escapism, innocence, anger, vulnerability, passion and betrayal. 

The key colour tone used in the lighting for my dance was red light, white light and blackouts these lighting aspects paired with the dance brings out these qualities more. The upper arm and torso movements represent her freedom and escape, that she doesn’t want anyone judging her.

Filming Practice

For everything I have filmed I have produced a practice shot. The reason I have done this is to get a feeling for how to film the scene and how to control the camera. Every time I did a practice shot I watched it over and wrote down instructions for myself to follow, having written both the advantages and disadvantages of how I felt the filming went. Once I felt happy with it, I filmed the final version. 

This was very helpful for me, especially because I was only filming in one day it allowed me to view my mistakes so I didn't have to go back at a later stage.

I am happy that I did it this way, due to the fact that I didn't have to revisit the task of filming again, because the footage wouldn't of reached the standards I would have hoped for.

Shooting Schedule

I decided to do all my filming over the half term, moreover I wanted to do all my filming in one day! This is so I could get it done quickly and easily with no hassle and therefore go straight to editing when I get back to school, as editing is the most time-consuming part.

Dance Shooting Schedule

I booked the school theatre today for 3 hours starting from 11:00. I was very fortunate to book the theatre due to high demand and a performance that was going to be shown recently.

I also wrote down a lighting and smoke schedule for the technician as I wanted to use the facilities the theatre had to offer, to get a professional look when coming to the final product for my video:
